Why can't I log in to the Message Center?
When you first click on the Spam and Virus Filter logo on the BestWeb homepage, a grey box will pop up. Here, you must enter your BestWeb username (note, not your e-mail address) and password. If this is your first time logging into the Message Center, you will be asked to agree to three questions. Click each of the three checkboxes next to the questions and click on the 'I Agree' button to agree. If you have agreed, you will be brought to a page which asks for your e-mail address and password. Once you have done this and clicked 'Log In', you will be brought to the Message Center.
If the login fails and your are using Internet Explorer for a web browser, do the following: Click on the 'Tools' menu and choose 'Internet Options...'. Click on the 'Privacy' tab. Click on the 'Edit...' button. In the 'Address of Web Site' field, enter 'bestweb.net' (without the quotes) and click the 'Allow' button. Do the same for 'postini.com'. Click Ok. Click Ok. Try logging in again. This should take care of your login problems.
If you continue to have problems logging into the Message Center, please e-mail support@bestweb.net or call us at 1-877-777-BWEB.
How much does it cost for these filters?
The Spam and Virus filters are now free to all Bestweb customers.
Can I choose just the Spam or just the Virus filter, or do I have to use both?
You can choose to use either the Spam or the Virus filter, or both.
Will the Spam and Virus Filters eliminate all junk and infected e-mail?
The Spam Filter uses complex rules to determine what is and what is not spam - this means that it will not be perfect. Likewise, the Virus Filter scans each message for any recognized virus, but it is not perfect either. If set properly, these filters should significantly reduce spam and infected e-mail. For instructions on properly setting your filters, click here.
I am a BestWeb customer, but my e-mail address is from my own domain. Can I use the filters on that address?
No. The filters will only work for e-mail addresses which end in '@bestweb.net'. This means that if you have an e-mail address which is for your domain (i.e. username@mydomain.com), you will not be able to use these filters for that address.
How long will a message stay in my Message Center?
Any e-mail that is identified as spam or infected will be held in your Message Center for a period of approximately 14 days before being deleted. During this 14 day period, you will be able to read these e-mails in your Message Center by clicking on the subject link. Use the 'Deliver' or 'Delete' buttons to either forward them to your e-mail account or delete them from your Message Center. If you click on the 'Deliver' button, you will be asked if you want to add this sender to your approved senders list. If you do, check the box next to the sender's e-mail address and click on the 'Continue' button and it will automatically add the sender as it delivers the message.
What is the Trash folder for?
If you delete e-mail from your Message Center, it will be moved to
the Message Center's Trash Folder temporarily. The purpose of this
is to allow you to recover the message if the deletion was a mistake.
Mail in the Trash Folder will be periodically removed and cannot be
recovered. If would like to view the Trash Folder, click on the
'View Trash' link in the Message Center. To deliver a message
incorrectly deleted, just put a check in the appropriate box and
click 'Deliver.'
What do I do if the filter catches an infected message, but I want to receive it safely?
You can use the 'Fix & Deliver' option for that message. If possible, the message will be disinfected and then sent to your e-mail account. Reading the message in your Message Center will not infect your computer.
Is the Virus filter kept up to date on the latest viruses?
Yes. Virus Assistant updates virus definitions continuously. The Virus Filter utilizes McAfee's AVERT (Anti-Virus Emergency Response Team) to stay current with virus definitions. AVERT is a worldwide virus-monitoring network that continuously looks for new viruses and subtle changes in old ones so that virus definitions stay current.
What do I do if my filter keeps catching e-mail that I want delivered?
There are two options. First, you can change the level of filtering that your Spam filter works at. If it is too aggressive, you can change it to a lower setting. Second, you can add the e-mail address of any sender to your Approved Senders list, which will always allow e-mail from that address to be sent to your e-mail account, regardless of its content. For instructions on adding approved senders, click here.
What can I do if I continue to get spam or infected e-mail after my filters are activated?
There are four options. First, you can change the level of filtering that your Spam filter works at. If it is too lenient, you can change it to a higher setting. Second, make sure that all of the filter categories are selected. This will help to catch more unwanted e-mail. Third, you can add the e-mail address of any sender to your Blocked Senders list, which will always filter e-mail from that address, regardless of its content. For instructions on adding blocked senders, click here. Fourth, you can forward any spam message that does not get caught by the filters to spam@postini.com.
How do I adjust the settings on my Spam filter?

Why would I add an alternate address to my Message Center?
Adding alternate e-mail addresses to your account will allow you to manage multiple e-mail addresses within the same Message Center. Each of the alternate e-mail addresses will have the same settings as the the account e-mail address that they are alternates of. This allows you to manage and make changes across all of your e-mail addresses without having to use multiple Message Centers. If you would prefer to use multiple Message Centers for various e-mail addresses, you can log in with each address and set the filters as needed.
Can I use alternate addresses that are not BestWeb addresses?
No. The only e-mail addresses that will work with these filters are those that end in '@bestweb.net'. Anything else will not work.
Can I log in with an alternate address?
If an e-mail address is an alternate e-mail address, you cannot log in with that e-mail address. You can only log in with the original e-mail address that you used.
How can I see my list of alternate addresses that are being filtered?
To see what alternate e-mail addresses you already have listed, click on the 'Account Settings' link in the Message Center. Click on the 'Add an alternate address' link. If you have any alternate e-mail addresses already entered, they will be shown in a list, where you can delete them if you wish to change your list.
